How to Reset Your RConnect Password
Getting locked out of your RConnect account can stop you from downloading payslips, applying for leave, or checking attendance — and that’s frustrating when you need urgent access. The good news is, Reliance’s HRMS portal lets you reset your password online in just a few minutes. Follow this clear, verified 2025 procedure carefully, and you’ll be back into your account without contacting IT support.
Step 1: Open the Official RConnect Portal
Go to https://rconnect.ril.com in your desktop browser.
It’s best to use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge because some older browsers block RConnect’s security scripts.
Once the page loads, confirm you see:
- A padlock icon (🔒) before the web address
- The full domain rconnect.ril.com (no extra words or symbols)
If the address bar looks correct, you’re in the right place.
Step 2: Click “Reset/Unlock Password”
Just below the login fields, there’s a blue link labeled “Reset/Unlock Password.”
Click on it once — it opens the official password recovery form.
If the link doesn’t respond, refresh the page (press Ctrl + R) or clear your cache.
You’ll now see a screen that says “Password Reset Portal.”
Step 3: Enter Your Employee ID
In the box labeled Employee ID, type your Reliance employee code exactly as given by HR.
It usually starts with an uppercase “P,” for example:
P123456
Avoid these mistakes:
❌ using lowercase p
❌ adding spaces before or after
❌ typing “0” instead of “O”
Click Continue once the ID is entered correctly.
Step 4: Verify Your Identity
RConnect verifies your account in one of two ways:
Option A – Email Verification
- Check your official Reliance email (like
@ril.com). - You’ll receive a mail titled “RConnect Password Reset Link.”
- Click the link inside the email — it opens the secure password creation page.
Option B – OTP Verification
- You’ll get a 6-digit OTP on your registered mobile number.
- Enter the OTP exactly as shown (case-sensitive).
- Click Verify.
After verification, you’ll be redirected to the “Create New Password” screen.
Step 5: Create a New Password
Now you’ll see two boxes: “New Password” and “Confirm Password.”
Enter a strong password that meets RConnect’s 2025 security policy:
| Rule | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Minimum Length | 6 characters |
| Maximum Length | 20 characters |
| Must Include | Uppercase letter, lowercase letter, number, special symbol |
| Restricted | Names, DOB, or repeating characters |
Examples of secure passwords:
R@2025Safe#Rel@Emp2025!
Type your new password again in the Confirm box and click Submit.
You’ll see a message:
✅ “Your password has been changed successfully.”
Step 6: Return to Login Page
Click Back to Login or manually visit https://rconnect.ril.com.
Now enter:
- Employee ID: your same “P” code
- Password: the new one you just created
Click Login.
If your dashboard loads — congratulations, your password reset worked.
If you see “Invalid Credentials” again, wait 10 minutes and try once more. Sometimes, RConnect’s internal systems take a few minutes to sync.
Step 7: If Your Account Is Locked
When the system shows “Your account is temporarily locked,” it’s not permanent. The lock automatically expires after a short waiting period.
Here’s what to do:
- Wait at least 30 minutes before trying again.
- After waiting, click Reset/Unlock Password again.
- Use OTP or email verification to unlock.
💡 Tip: Don’t try logging in repeatedly — every failed attempt adds more lock time.
Step 8: Default Password Format for New Users
If this is your first-time login, use your date of birth as the default password.
The system accepts these common formats:
YYYYMMDD→ Example:19900815- or
Rr@YYYYMMDD→ Example:Rr@19900815
After your first successful login, the portal will automatically ask you to create a new password. Do it immediately — the default one is public within HR records.
Step 9: Troubleshooting Common Problems
| Problem | Likely Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No email received | Spam filter or network delay | Check spam/junk folder and wait 5–10 minutes |
| OTP not arriving | Mobile number not updated | Contact HR to update your profile |
| Reset link expired | 15-minute validity expired | Start password reset again |
| Still locked after reset | Cache or session issue | Press Ctrl + Shift + R and retry login |
| “User ID not found” | Typing error in ID | Verify format: starts with capital “P” |
Step 10: Security Best Practices for RConnect Users
Once your account is active again, follow these habits to keep it safe:
- Change your password every 90 days.
- Never store your RConnect credentials in browsers.
- Log out completely after each session, especially on shared systems.
- Use strong, unique passwords for RConnect and PeopleFirst separately.
- Don’t open RConnect on public Wi-Fi or cyber cafés.
If your account frequently locks even after using the right password, clear cookies and browser cache, or switch to a different browser.
